These paintings pay homage to Bridget Riley’s experiments with optical illusions, although they are quite unlike her work. Like Riley’s work, these pieces contain patterns that visually stimulate and interact with a viewer’s perception. The painting with the robust color square is lost. While quite similar to the 2012 painting, the richer coloration shows how dramatically color changes one’s engagement with pattern.
