Spring Medley, a vivid exploration of geometric abstraction, features a dynamic interplay of triangles, lines, and gradients. It has an architectural stability, with form and color converging to evoke motion, depth, and resonance. When engaging with this non-representational work, the eye is drawn across the canvas by the rhythm of these shapes and the way the gradient transitions strike the eye. Because the qualities of one’s visual experience are subtle, it takes continued or prolonged engagement to sense how both structured and fluid elements impact the viewer on a sensory level.

Free form abstraction drawing created with prismacolor and ink. Like many of the Fantasy painting of this time, the perimeter is irregular and was intentionally cut this way to accentuate the image’s dynamic. Polly’s Wedding is another work in this series, although the irregular perimeter is not as pronounced.
